Austria — Olympic champion Marco Odermatt opened his World Cup season with a spectacular win in the Giant Slalom, edging out his rivals by 0.24 seconds to secure his 46th career victory.

The 28-year-old Swiss skier, who clinched giant slalom gold at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, has now triumphed three times in the Austrian Alps, adding to his previous wins in 2021 and 2022.

“It’s the perfect start,” Odermatt said after his victory. “You always give a lot during the summer, but you still don’t really know where you are before the first race. So, this is very good to get into the season with confidence. I really set the focus again on the GS this prep season… I’ll take this good feeling into the next event.”

Odermatt’s consistent dominance continues to define men’s alpine skiing, as he looks poised for another successful World Cup campaign following his latest win on the challenging Austrian slopes.
