Israel and Lebanon have agreed to extend their ceasefire agreement by 45 days following negotiations supported by the United States, according to the U.S. State Department.

The ceasefire extension follows the truce framework announced last month by Donald Trump amid escalating regional tensions and cross-border violence.

Despite the extension, deadly attacks continued across southern Lebanon overnight and into Saturday, raising concerns about the stability of the fragile agreement.

The deadliest reported strike targeted a civil defence center in Hanouiyeh near the city of Tyre, where Lebanese authorities said at least six people were killed.

Among the victims were reportedly three paramedics working at the facility. More than 20 additional people were wounded during the attack.

Further strikes were also reported in areas surrounding Tyre and Nabatieh as military activity continued despite ongoing diplomatic efforts.

The latest violence highlights the continuing instability along the Israel-Lebanon border, where exchanges of fire and military operations have intensified during recent regional conflicts.

Lebanese officials condemned the strikes, particularly the attack on emergency response personnel, while fears continue growing over the humanitarian impact of the conflict in southern Lebanon.

The United States has been attempting to maintain the ceasefire to prevent wider escalation between Israel and armed groups operating in Lebanon.

Analysts say the extension provides additional time for diplomatic negotiations, but ongoing military actions on the ground continue to threaten the fragile truce.

The conflict has already displaced civilians, damaged infrastructure, and increased fears of a broader regional war involving multiple Middle Eastern actors.

International observers are closely monitoring whether the extended ceasefire can hold as both sides face mounting pressure over security concerns and civilian casualties.
