Iran and the United States have indicated that a potential agreement to end months of conflict is now within reach, raising hopes for a diplomatic breakthrough in one of the most significant international crises of the year.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that a memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington aimed at ending the war “has never been closer.” However, he cautioned that negotiations are still ongoing and urged media outlets and commentators to avoid speculation until the agreement is formally finalized.

Araghchi emphasized that discussions remain sensitive and that public reports regarding the contents of the proposed deal could complicate the final stages of diplomacy.

The comments came as U.S. President Donald Trump appeared to acknowledge progress in the talks by reposting the Iranian foreign minister’s statement on his Truth Social platform. The move was viewed by many observers as a sign that both sides are seeking to build momentum toward a formal agreement.

Earlier, Trump criticized reports published by Iranian state media that allegedly revealed details of the proposed memorandum. He dismissed those reports as “fake news” and accused unnamed sources of leaking inaccurate information during a critical phase of negotiations.
