Hull and East Yorkshire Fashion Week is set to make a highly anticipated return after a 10-year absence, providing a platform for local designers, students, and creative businesses to showcase their work.

The event is being revived following calls from fashion designer Seguntuyi Onakoya, who advocated for the return of the popular celebration of regional fashion and creativity. Organizers hope the renewed event will highlight the area’s growing fashion industry and support emerging talent.

The week will begin with a free opening event, the Hull Trade Fair, at Trinity Market. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore collections and products from fashion designers, vintage clothing sellers, skincare brands, accessory creators, and wig makers.

Local officials have welcomed the return of the event. Hull City Council Deputy Leader Jackie Dad described Fashion Week as an important opportunity for creative professionals to display their skills and gain recognition for their work.

The programme will also feature a special showcase titled Theatre of Dreams, scheduled to take place at Queen Victoria Square on 5 June. The event will combine fashion, music, and dance performances, creating a multidisciplinary celebration of local artistic talent.

Organizers aim to make the revived Fashion Week a permanent fixture on the city’s cultural calendar. Hull City Council has announced plans to host the event annually, helping to strengthen support for the local creative sector and encourage new opportunities for designers and businesses.

In addition to established fashion professionals, the event will spotlight the next generation of talent. More than 100 students from East Riding College will present their designs alongside experienced designers, offering them valuable exposure and industry experience.
