Academy Award-winning actor Anthony Hopkins has launched a new chapter in his creative career by releasing his first official music single as a composer at the age of 88.

The track, titled “Bracken Road,” is the first release from his upcoming orchestral album, Life is a Dream, which features compositions Hopkins has written over the past six decades. The album is being released by Decca Classics.

Best known for his acclaimed acting career, Hopkins has won two Academy Awards for performances in films including The Silence of the Lambs and The Remains of the Day. However, music has been a lifelong passion that began long before his success on screen.

According to the record label, Hopkins started playing the piano at the age of four and began improvising just two years later. As a teenager, he was already composing music for local theatre productions.

Reflecting on his musical journey, Hopkins said that music was his first love and that he has continued composing throughout his life. He added that many of the pieces featured on the album have stayed with him for decades and remain close to his heart.

The release of “Bracken Road” marks Hopkins’ official debut as a recording composer, showcasing another dimension of his artistic career after decades of international success in film and television.
