Wimbledon 2025: Djokovic Targets Record 25th Grand Slam Title, Says Grass Is His Best Bet

As Novak Djokovic prepares for another run at Wimbledon, the tennis legend is once again in pursuit of a historic milestone: a record-setting 25th Grand Slam title. For the 37-year-old Serbian star, the prestigious grass-court major might be his best opportunity yet.

Djokovic, a seven-time Wimbledon champion, has long dominated the lawns of the All England Club. However, in the last two years, he fell heartbreakingly short losing in consecutive finals to Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz in 2023 and 2024. Those defeats kept him from equaling Roger Federer’s record of eight Wimbledon titles and inching closer to Martina Navratilova’s all-time Wimbledon singles record of nine.

Still, Djokovic remains focused and optimistic.

“I feel that Wimbledon is still the place where I have the best shot at winning another Slam,” he told reporters ahead of this year’s tournament. “I’ve had great success here, and I know how to play on this surface.”

As is often the case now, questions about his future in tennis shadow every tournament. Whether it’s before the event, during press conferences, or after his matches, Djokovic is frequently asked if each appearance could be his last.

So far, he’s brushed off the retirement chatter, emphasizing his physical condition, motivation, and love for the sport. “As long as I feel competitive and healthy, I’ll keep going,” he said.

Djokovic currently holds 24 Grand Slam singles titles, tied with Margaret Court for the most in tennis history. A win at Wimbledon 2025 would put him alone at the top and further cement his legacy as the greatest men’s player in the sport’s modern era.

With the tournament now underway, all eyes will be on Centre Court to see if Djokovic can reclaim the crown and make history once again on the grass he knows best.
