UPI Outage: Multiple Users Report Transaction Failures Across India

Users of Unified Payments Interface (UPI) have been facing issues with failed transactions across India. Several individuals reported that their payments were unsuccessful, causing inconvenience for those relying on UPI for everyday financial transactions. According to the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), the organization is aware of the issue and is actively working to resolve the “intermittent technical issues” that have affected UPI services.

This marks the second UPI outage in April 2025, with many users expressing frustration on social media about their inability to complete digital transactions. This follows a previous incident earlier in the month, which also disrupted services, although it was less widespread. While issues with certain banks’ platforms at the close of the financial year are routine, the current outage appears to have affected a larger number of users across multiple platforms.

NPCI stated that they are investigating the cause of the problem and assured users that their teams are working diligently to restore services. Despite their efforts, some users continue to face problems with their transactions, while others are reporting partial service recovery.

The UPI system has become an essential tool for millions of Indians, facilitating instant and secure financial transactions. However, outages like these raise concerns about the reliability of the infrastructure, particularly during times of high transaction volume.

As of now, NPCI has not provided a specific timeline for when the issue will be fully resolved, but they have urged users to be patient and assured that efforts are underway to rectify the problem as soon as possible.
