In a move to improve connectivity in remote regions, Elon Musk’s Starlink technology will soon provide high-speed internet access on ScotRail trains traversing the Scottish Highlands. This initiative aims to address longstanding communication challenges faced by passengers and train operators in these areas.​
The implementation will begin with the Far North Line’s Class 158 trains, serving routes to Inverness, Thurso, and Wick. Starlink’s satellite network, orbiting approximately 340 miles above Earth, is designed to deliver broadband services to remote and underserved locations.
