The New York Stock Exchange faced an unexpected trading halt this week, with a major disruption lasting over three hours due to a software upgrade failure. According to exchange officials, the upgrade led to communication errors between trading systems, preventing proper order processing.

In response to the malfunction, NYSE suspended trading at 11:32 a.m. Eastern time and gradually resumed normal operations by 3:10 p.m. Eastern.

Although the incident caused temporary setbacks for traders, other exchanges such as Nasdaq continued functioning normally, allowing investors to redirect their transactions.
