Lizzo has made her long-awaited return to live performances, playing her first concert in nearly two years. The Grammy-winning artist took the stage in Los Angeles, where she opened up about the emotional toll of recent legal battles, including lawsuits from former employees.
During her performance at The Wiltern, Lizzo told the audience that she had endured a period of “dark depression” where she “didn’t want to live anymore.” However, she credited a powerful moment of kindness from a stranger at a concert for helping her heal. “Then it was 10 people, then 100… then 1,000… then it was 10,000 people showering me with love and support,” she said in a video shared on TikTok. She encouraged those struggling with mental health to “reach out,” acknowledging how difficult it can be to ask for help.
Lizzo’s return comes after facing multiple legal challenges. In 2023, three of her former tour dancers sued the singer, accusing her of sexual harassment, fat-shaming, and fostering a hostile work environment. Lizzo denied the claims, calling them “sensationalized stories” from former employees. The dancers are currently seeking a jury trial, while Lizzo and her touring company, Big Grrrl Big Touring, have requested the case be dismissed.
Additionally, Lizzo was involved in a legal dispute with a former stylist, Asha Daniels, who alleged racial and sexual harassment by members of Lizzo’s management team during a 2023 tour. In December 2024, an LA federal judge ruled that Daniels could not sue Lizzo personally, though her company remains a defendant in the ongoing case.
Now focusing on her music, Lizzo is set to continue her comeback with two new singles and additional performances in New York and Minneapolis later this month. Fans eagerly anticipate her next steps as she reclaims her place in the music industry.
