Close to half of Kalshi’s users experienced temporary glitches and delays on Saturday, coinciding with college football games, a major source of trades on the platform. Many users reported being unable to process orders or see their account balances during the disruption.

In a message obtained by CNBC, Kalshi acknowledged the issues, stating the exchange was “experiencing temporary delays” and that “balances and positions may not be accurately reflected at this time.” Some users shared screenshots and recordings showing that the website wouldn’t load, displaying only the Kalshi logo with a spinning circle for more than 20 minutes before it eventually resumed normal function.

Despite user reports of downtime, a company spokesperson emphasized that no exchange outage occurred, no funds were affected, and that clearing, advanced trading, and institutional trading were uninterrupted. The spokesperson added that the glitches affected less than half of the user base.

The incident comes shortly after Kalshi announced a $300 million Series D funding round valuing the company at $5 billion, more than double its $2 billion valuation in June following its Series C round. The round was co-led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and Sequoia Capital, with participation from Paradigm, Coinbase Ventures, General Catalyst, Spark Capital, and CapitalG.

Founded in 2018, Kalshi rose to prominence as a predictions market platform, enabling users to trade on real-world events ranging from sports to economics. The company continues to expand its offerings despite the minor technical disruptions over the weekend.
