BIRMINGHAM, England, Oct 26 (Reuters) — Manchester City’s unbeaten streak came to an end as Aston Villa clinched a 1–0 victory at Villa Park on Sunday, thanks to a first-half goal from Matty Cash.

Cash’s strike secured Villa’s fourth straight Premier League win, while also handing City their first loss in 10 matches across all competitions.

The defeat leaves Pep Guardiola’s side six points adrift of league leaders Arsenal after nine matches. Aston Villa, meanwhile, continue their impressive form under Unai Emery, sitting just one point behind City in the standings and extending their unbeaten league run to six matches.

“We work a lot on set-pieces,” said Cash in his post-match comments to the BBC. “Over the last couple of years, there have been a lot of set-pieces that have won us games, and today is no different.”

The victory highlights Villa’s growing consistency and resilience, as they continue to challenge the Premier League’s elite with a blend of defensive discipline and opportunistic play.
