Canada begins with match against No. 75 Honduras on June 17 at B.C. Place Stadium

Canada will kick off its 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup campaign against Honduras in Vancouver before heading to Houston for its remaining Group B matches. The Canadian men’s national team, ranked 30th, will face 75th-ranked Honduras on June 17 at B.C. Place Stadium. Following that, they will travel to Shell Energy Stadium in Houston to take on No. 90 Curacao on June 21 and No. 81 El Salvador on June 24.

Coach Jesse Marsch will be absent from the sidelines for Canada’s opening game due to a one-game suspension handed down after his dismissal in the CONCACAF Nations League third-place match in March.

The 2025 Gold Cup, featuring 15 teams from the CONCACAF region—North and Central America, and the Caribbean—will also welcome guest team Saudi Arabia, ranked 58th. This marks the third time the tournament will be hosted in Canada, following games in Toronto’s BMO Field in 2015 and 2023.

The tournament will run from June 14 to July 6, with matches held across 14 stadiums in the U.S. and Canada. After round-robin play from June 14 to 24, the top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stages, beginning with the quarterfinals on June 28-29, followed by the semifinals on July 2 and the final on July 6 at NRG Stadium in Houston.

Canada’s group consists of Honduras, Curacao, and El Salvador. Should Canada win the group, they would face the runner-up from Group C in the quarterfinals. The second-place team in Group B will take on the winner of Group C.

Canada’s record against these teams is promising: they are 9-13-7 all-time against Honduras, with a 4-1 victory the last time they met in March 2023. Against El Salvador, Canada holds a 10-5-4 record, including a 3-0 win in 2021 and a 2-0 victory in 2022. Canada has also won all three of its meetings with Curacao, most recently 2-0 in March 2023.

Mexico, the reigning Gold Cup champion, will defend its title after beating Panama 1-0 in the 2023 final for its ninth Gold Cup victory. The U.S. has won the tournament seven times, while Canada claimed its only title in 2000. Canada’s best recent finishes include third place in 2002 and semifinal appearances in 2007 and 2021, where they were eliminated by the U.S. and Mexico, respectively.

The Canadian team earned its spot in this year’s tournament via the 2024-25 CONCACAF Nations League, joining other qualifiers from Costa Rica, Jamaica, Honduras, Trinidad and Tobago, Guatemala, Suriname, and Guadeloupe, who secured their places through qualifying playoffs.
