Blake Lively appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers this week, offering a rare, heartfelt glimpse into what she described as a year filled with both “the highest highs and the lowest lows.”
Promoting her new film Another Simple Favor, the actress also opened up about motherhood and how her children have anchored her through challenging times.
“No surprise, I’ve had a pretty intense year,” said Lively. “And [my kids] are just my lifeline. No matter what day I’m having, I have to be Disneyland every day for them. It’s the best.”
Lively shares four children with husband Ryan Reynolds, and while she didn’t delve into specifics, she acknowledged that legal constraints may prevent her from fully speaking about recent events in her life.
“This year has been full of the highest highs and the lowest lows of my life,” she said, adding that fear often silences women from speaking about their experiences. “Fear is by design — it’s what keeps us silent.”
She continued by praising those who have had the courage and platform to speak out, saying, “It’s the women who have had the ability to use their voice that’s kept me strong, and helped me in my belief and my fight for the world to be safer for women and girls. It’s a pretty simple thing.”
While Lively did not reveal any specific incidents, her comments added emotional weight to an already compelling appearance, earning her praise from fans for her honesty and strength.
