The Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA) has officially canceled the 2025 edition of its prestigious annual event, The Art Show, marking a significant shift in the fair’s decades-long tradition at New York’s Park Avenue Armory.
In an email sent to members and reviewed by ARTnews, ADAA leadership described the decision as a “strategic pause” aimed at reimagining the fair for future sustainability. The announcement followed what the board referred to as “careful review” of the fair’s goals and relevance in today’s evolving art and cultural market.
The 37th edition of the fair had been scheduled to kick off with its traditional benefit preview on October 28. However, the organization has opted instead to use this moment as an opportunity for introspection and recalibration.
“While we understand this news may be disappointing,” the statement read, “we believe this pause presents a meaningful opportunity to reimagine The Art Show with long-term sustainability and member value in mind. It allows us to evaluate how best to support our members, partners, and the broader arts community in an evolving cultural and market landscape.”
Although no specific timeline has been shared regarding the return of The Art Show, the ADAA remains committed to its mission of supporting galleries and enriching the art ecosystem. Further updates are expected as the organization continues its strategic planning.
