Aaron Rodgers Addresses Future, Says Retirement Is Still on the Table

Aaron Rodgers has revealed that retirement is still a possibility as he considers his future in football. Speaking during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Thursday, the 41-year-old free agent emphasized that he’s “open to anything and attached to nothing” while navigating the next chapter of his career.

Rodgers, who was released by the New York Jets last month, confirmed that he has had several candid conversations with Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin. His participation in a throwing session with new Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf earlier this year has only fueled speculation about a potential move to Pittsburgh. However, Rodgers has yet to make a formal decision.

The four-time NFL MVP explained that personal matters have taken priority over football since January, sharing that he’s currently in a “serious relationship” and supporting close friends facing difficult challenges.

“I have a couple people in my inner, inner circle who are battling some difficult stuff,” Rodgers said while dolphin watching off the coast of California. “To make a commitment to a team is a big thing, whether you are a first-year player or a 20-year vet.”

Despite widespread interest, Rodgers stressed that he is “not holding anybody hostage” and will make his decision when the time feels right.
