Two men were injured during a stabbing at the Nanaksar Gurdwara temple in Edmonton on Friday morning after a man armed with a screwdriver interrupted morning prayers, police said.
The incident occurred around 5 a.m. at the sprawling Sikh temple in northeast Edmonton. A 27-year-old man was taken into custody following the confrontation.
Police have not yet confirmed a possible motive for the attack. During a news conference on Friday afternoon, Acting Inspector Eric Stewart of the Edmonton Police Service said the department’s Hate Crimes unit is investigating the incident.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the stabbing as the community awaits further information.
