Trump Says He Is Cancelling Iran Strikes if Deal Is Reached Rapidly

US President Donald Trump says he has cancelled planned military strikes against Iran, provided that a diplomatic agreement is reached “rapidly.”

In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that Iran and several Middle Eastern countries had asked the United States to delay any military action while negotiations continued.

According to Trump, the proposed agreement would include reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global shipping route, and addressing concerns over Iran’s nuclear programme.

His comments followed reports from US media suggesting Washington had been considering a new wave of large-scale strikes on Iranian targets over the weekend.

Earlier on Saturday, Iran accused the United States of escalating regional tensions and warned that any country cooperating with Washington could be “engulfed by the flames of war.”

At the same time, the US government issued a security alert advising American citizens across the Middle East to remain vigilant and prepare for possible travel disruptions if the situation deteriorates.

The advisory warned of potential flight cancellations, temporary airspace closures, and the possibility of a broader regional escalation.

According to multiple sources cited by CBS News, US and Israeli officials had discussed what could have been one of the most significant bombing campaigns against Iran’s energy infrastructure. The reported plans were said to have been reviewed during President Trump’s cabinet meeting on Friday.

While Trump’s announcement suggests a preference for diplomacy if negotiations progress quickly, the situation remains fluid as tensions continue across the Middle East.
