Families across Venezuela are desperately searching for loved ones after two powerful earthquakes caused widespread destruction, reducing homes and buildings to rubble and leaving thousands feared trapped beneath the debris.

In the coastal state of La Guaira, one of the regions hardest hit by Wednesday’s back-to-back earthquakes, rescue efforts continue around the clock. Volunteers, residents, and emergency workers are digging through collapsed structures with shovels and their bare hands, while drones survey the devastated neighborhoods from above in the hope of locating survivors.
