Milan — The fashion world had its eyes firmly on Dario Vitale this week as he unveiled his first collection for Versace at Milan Fashion Week. Appointed chief creative officer in April, Vitale arrived with little public profile compared to his iconic predecessor Donatella Versace, making his debut all the more anticipated.
As the first non-family member to lead the house since its founding, Vitale carried the weight of legacy and expectation. His debut collection, however, answered the question on everyone’s mind: what would a new Versace look like? The result was sexy, bold, and unapologetically uninhibited.
What began as an intimate gathering quickly became a full-scale fashion spectacle. Guests included Bianca Jagger, Mia Khalifa, Romeo Beckham, and South Korean rapper Hyunjin, adding to the glamour of the night.
The venue itself set the tone. Invitations, written as a heartfelt letter quoting poet John Keats, revealed only that the show would take place in central Milan. Attendees were surprised to discover the actual location — the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, a historic gallery adorned with works by Caravaggio and Raphael, offering a dramatic backdrop that underscored Vitale’s vision for Versace’s next era.
The debut also comes at a pivotal time for the house: Versace is set to join the Prada Group later this year in a landmark $1.38 billion acquisition. With Vitale at the creative helm, the brand is clearly signaling a fearless new chapter.
