The Mercury Prize 2025 shortlist has been announced, with Wolf Alice breaking records as the only act in the award’s 34-year history to earn nominations for each of their first four albums.
The band, who previously won the prize in 2018 for Visions of a Life, received their latest nomination for The Clearing, a record inspired by the sounds of 1970s soft rock.
Pulp’s Long-Awaited Comeback
Also nominated are Pulp, recognized for More, their first studio album in 24 years. The Britpop icons, who previously won the Mercury Prize, return to the spotlight with a highly anticipated release.
A Diverse Shortlist
At 84 years old, folk legend Martin Carthy makes history as the oldest-ever Mercury nominee, while viral pop star PinkPantheress secures a nod for Fancy That—a high-energy mixtape lasting just 20 minutes, believed to be the shortest album ever nominated.
Irish singer-songwriter CMAT also earns her first Mercury nomination, adding to a diverse lineup that spans rock, folk, and pop innovation.
The winner of the Mercury Prize 2025 will be announced later this year, celebrating the best in UK and Irish music.
