The humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to worsen, with the United Nations’ World Food Programme (WFP) warning that nearly one-third of the population is going days without food. The alarming update highlights the growing scale of food insecurity amid ongoing conflict in the region.

In a statement released this week, the WFP reported that 90,000 women and children are in urgent need of treatment for malnutrition, as hunger levels reach critical highs. The agency warned that the situation could deteriorate further without immediate intervention.

According to the Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza, nine additional deaths due to malnutrition were reported on Friday, bringing the total to 122 since the war began. These numbers have intensified calls from the international community for increased humanitarian aid access.

Israel, which controls the flow of goods into Gaza, maintains that it is not restricting humanitarian aid, and instead blames Hamas for any failure in distribution or delivery within the territory.

Aid agencies continue to call for safe, unrestricted access to food and medical supplies, as warnings of starvation grow increasingly dire.
