Tel Aviv, July 6, 2025 — The Israeli military announced that it successfully intercepted a missile launched from Yemen, reportedly by the Iran-backed Houthi movement. The missile, detected early Sunday morning, was intercepted before causing any damage or injuries, military officials confirmed.
The incident marks another escalation in regional tensions, as the Houthi rebels have increased their long-range missile activities in recent months in support of Palestinian factions. In response, Israel issued a stern warning, threatening a comprehensive naval and aerial blockade on Yemen if the attacks continue.
“We will not tolerate persistent threats from the Houthis,” an Israeli defense spokesperson stated. “All necessary measures, including air and sea control over Yemen’s military capabilities, are on the table.”
The Houthi movement, which controls large parts of northern Yemen, has previously claimed attacks in solidarity with Gaza and Hezbollah. Regional analysts warn that such provocations risk drawing Israel deeper into broader Middle East conflicts involving Iran and its proxy forces.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have heightened surveillance and defense readiness in the Red Sea and southern airspace in anticipation of further hostile launches.
