Ryan Gosling is embarking on an exciting new venture in the Star Wars universe with the upcoming film Star Wars: Starfighter, which is scheduled for release in May 2027. Gosling, known for his roles in Barbie and La La Land, will collaborate with director Shawn Levy on this highly anticipated project.

The film is set to take place around five years after Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker (2019), but will introduce a brand-new adventure with fresh characters, distinct from the Skywalker saga. According to Lucasfilm, the film will explore a previously uncharted time in the Star Wars universe, offering a unique storyline.

The announcement was made during the Star Wars Celebration event in Japan, where fans were treated to a nostalgic moment when Gosling shared a childhood photo of his Star Wars-branded bedding. Gosling revealed he had been “dreaming about ‘Star Wars’ before [he] ever saw it.”

Filming for Star Wars: Starfighter is set to begin in the fall.
