Homeland Security Cuts Jobs in Civil Rights and Immigration Oversight Offices

by | Mar 22, 2025 | Nation | 0 comments

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is reducing staff in its oversight divisions, including the Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties (CRCL), the Office of the Immigration Detention Ombudsman, and the Office of the Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman.

DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin confirmed the cuts, citing concerns that these offices had obstructed immigration enforcement by creating bureaucratic hurdles and slowing down operations. The reductions are part of a broader effort to streamline the federal workforce and refocus resources on law enforcement priorities.
