On April 22, 2025, a terrorist attack at Baisaran Valley in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir killed 26 and injured more than 20 others. The attack, the deadliest of its kind in India since the 2008 Mumbai attacks, targeted non-Muslim male tourists and was reportedly aimed at resisting alleged demographic changes in the Kashmir Valley. A local Muslim resident was also killed after reportedly trying to intervene against the attackers. The Resistance Front, an affiliate of the UN-designated terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack. The incident resulted in a diplomatic crisis between India and Pakistan, leading to border skirmishes on the India-Pakistan border. The National Investigation Agency initiated an investigation into the attack after visiting the site on April 23. Based on eyewitness testimonies, the Jammu and Kashmir Police released sketches of three of the militants believed to have been involved in the attack.
